First aid, ambulance standby, emergency response, and licensed medical staff to handle injuries or health emergencies.
Having trained first aid and medical professionals on-site ensures rapid response to accidents, injuries, or medical emergencies.
A paramedic and a First Responder(Medic) both provide emergency care, but their training and responsibilities are different. First Responders offer basic life support, such as CPR, oxygen, and wound care. Paramedics, on the other hand, are trained in more advanced treatments, including managing airways, giving medications, and monitoring cardiac monitoring. Paramedics undergo much more education and clinical training than medics.
At Medivac, we have event coordinators available to provide advice. According to SportSG guidelines, sports activities that involve high cardiovascular exertion and significant contact (such as MMA events) should have an ambulance on standby. In contrast, low-intensity sports with minimal contact may only require a medic to be on standby.
Additionally, clients should consider the number of attendees at their events. Events that involve alcohol (such as ZoukOut) should have an ambulance present, while events with fewer attendees, like food-eating competitions, can have a medic on site without the need for an ambulance.

The distinction between an Emergency Ambulance and a Medical Transport Service (commonly referred to as a Non-Emergency Ambulance) primarily pertains to the personnel involved, the level of medical equipment available, and the use of warning systems, such as sirens and lights.
Emergency Ambulances are staffed by highly trained Paramedics and Nurses and are equipped to handle all types of medical and trauma emergencies. Their sirens and emergency lights enable them to respond swiftly in critical situations, ensuring that patients can be transported to hospitals promptly.
In contrast, Medical Transport Services (MTS) is managed by medics who are capable of addressing minor first aid needs. While they are trained to manage certain emergency situations, MTS are not authorized to transport patients directly to hospitals. When faced with an emergency, it is important that MTS refer the situation to an Emergency Ambulance, such as SCDF 995 or Medivac, to facilitate the necessary hospital transfer.
Risk assessment is essential for determining the appropriate medical transport or emergency ambulance needs for events.
For low-risk events, medical transport can be deployed. If cost is a concern, clients may consider using medics for the event, as both medical transport services (MTS) and medics without an ambulance will require the client to call an emergency ambulance to transport the patient to a hospital.
For high-risk or large-scale events, it is recommended to have an emergency ambulance on site.
Yes, we provide medics on bicycles or motorbikes for large-scale events, such as running events. These medics are equipped with AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators). The purpose of using medics on motorbikes or bicycles is to enable them to navigate quickly through the crowd of runners, which helps reduce the response time compared to an ambulance.
